SOS LOGistica organized, together with Contship Italia Group and La Spezia Port Authority, a workshop dedicated to the sharing and pooling of information, projects and data pertaining to the adoption of LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) fuel in the logistic sector. The workshop is part of the activities organized within the European project PoseidonMED (http://www.poseidonmed.eu/).
The workshop was attended by 27 participants, who have been divided in two groups, representing the macro-areas of competence:
- Procurement and distribution
This panel was attended by representatives of Edison, General Electric, Iveco, OLT – Offshore LNG Toscana, Rail Hub Milano and Sapio.
- Supply & demand
This panel was attended by representatives from Auchan, BLG Logistics Solutions, China Shipping, Ecomotive Solutions, Havi Logisitcs, IKEA, Iveco and Nestlè Waters.
After the initial phase, when participants presented the projects of their companies, the two tables have been reunited, to discuss and brainstorm two possible future scenarios: the first depicting a development lead by the industry, the second forecasting a growth led by the supply chain.
The chosen format (direct invitation, open discussion, and the absence of journalists and media representatives) allowed the paries to share frankly information and projects, and for many of them represented a concrete chance for professional exchange.
The feedback received from participants highlighted a change in the perception of LNG, now widely considered as a valuable and concrete opportunity, both from the point of view environmental sustainability and for the possibility of new business ventures. Thanks to the common goal of improving the efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of logistics, and to the positive and collaborative spirit of the meeting, new opportunities and common projects are arising among the project stakeholders. We will follow these evolutions, keeping you updated during the following months.
